Books by Mail is a free service that delivers library materials to Yolo County residents through the mail. This program is designed for residents that are prevented from visiting a Yolo County Library branch due to a disability, illness, or lack of regular transportation.

After completing an application and speaking with library staff, residents can request specific materials be mailed to them directly and may even request that library staff select materials for them based on personal interest. To be eligible to receive home delivered meals, recipients must be 60+ years of age, and a resident of Yolo County, please call James Kreidler at (530) 662-7035 ext. 202 or send him an email at jkreidler@mowyolo.org if you are interested.

Home delivered meals are delivered by volunteers, Monday – Friday, between 10:45am – 12noon.  Eligibility for this service is determined by our Home Delivered Meals Coordinator, who oversees this program.  Those who are eligible must exhibit at least one of the following conditions:

• Be homebound: The senior needs assistance to leave the home.
• Have a physical disability and need assistance with two activities of daily living, such as: eating, dressing, getting up, bathing, toileting or walking.
• Have a mental or emotional disability and needs verbal reminding or directions.
• Not be able to cook or has limited or no assistance with meal preparation.

Seniors who have been recently discharged from the hospital receive priority, whether receiving meals temporarily or for a longer term.

Seniors 60+ look forward to gathering for lunch each weekday. The opportunity to socialize with peers is as important a part of the program as the meal itself.  Congregate meals are offered at the 664 Cummins Way site in West Sacramento in one seating at 11:30 am. The site is on the Route 40 YoloBus route at Cummins Way at Reuter bus stop.

Many seniors suffer from depression and loneliness and need a reason to leave their homes. At the site, the coffee pot is on, there is a pool table and open computers for use, and time to 'just chat' before and after lunchtime.  Social contact with friends and acquaintances is an important component of the congregate dining experience. Seniors are encouraged to contribute financially what they are able, but the program does not have a certain price for the meal; if they are able to make a contribution in any amount, it is appreciated.

The Yolo County Transportation District provides local and regional public transit service in West Sacramento. The Transit Center is located directly on the Community Center property for convenient access to bus patrons. The Sacramento Regional Transit District also provides a public transit connection between West Sacramento and Downtown Sacramento. Yolo Adult Day Health Center (YADHC) has implemented a new program that will provide Yolo Special bus tickets to eligible seniors. The transportation program will provide disabled seniors with vouchers to be used as tickets for Yolobus Special. The vouchers may be used for medical appointments, shopping or a variety of other purposes.
